The Crown Jewels
The British Crown Jewels are a collection of more than 140 royal ceremonial objects. The collection includes crowns of every monarch that has ruled Great Britain, as well as scepters, swords, rings, and many other pieces of regalia.
There are also 24,000 precious stones, including the Cullinan I, which is the largest clearcut diamond in the entire world at 530 karats, said to be worth over 400 million pounds. For hundreds of years, the British Crown Jewels have been kept safely under guard in the Jewel House at the Tower of London, guarded by the Yeoman Warders – better known as Beefeaters – whose sole task is ensuring the protection of these priceless, historical artifacts.
For one night only, you can enjoy private access to this astonishing collection.
Ceremony of the Keys
Footsteps echo in the darkness. The sentry cries out, ‘Halt, who comes there?’ The Yeoman Warder replies, ‘The keys.’ ‘Whose keys?’ ‘King Charles III’s keys.’ ‘Pass then, all’s well.’
Aside from the monarch’s name, this is the exact exchange that has been spoken for centuries and forms part of the traditional ‘locking up’ of the Tower of London.
Set amidst the mighty battlements of this ancient historic fortress, the Ceremony of the Keys is one of the oldest surviving enactments of its kind. Although the monarch may no longer reside at the Tower, the Crown Jewels and many other invaluable objects still do, therefore its importance is still relevant today.
Drinks Reception on the Battlements
Surrounded by an evocative mix of ancient and modern, worlds collide as you stand atop the ancient battlements overlooking London’s iconic cityscape.
You will have uninterrupted views of Tower Bridge over the Thames, The Shard and HMS Belfast. And the perfect opportunity for some impressive selfies!
A tantalising selection of canapes will be served as you mingle, making the most of the company and the backdrop.
Your Dining Room – The Wakefield Tower
Dine under the imposing domed ceiling of the Wakefield Tower, set within the Medieval Palace located directly above Traitor’s Gate.
This enchanting space was built by Henry III around 1230 AD, and was probably a private audience chamber where notary visitors would be hosted by the King.
We can transform this area into an exceptional dining room, dressed in your corporate colours for an impressively dramatic effect.
