It has been our privilege to create this very personal tour, paying homage to your grandfather’s war story.
Enclosed is a draft itinerary that we have based on our extensive research of your grandfather’s service history. It is intentionally brief, as we want the story to unfold as you follow in his footsteps across the battlefields of The Somme.
The package cost is an all-inclusive price, incorporating transport, accommodation, meals and refreshments and museum entries – as well as your expert, personal guide who will be on-hand throughout your tour.

Eurotunnel crossing to Calais

Travel to Albert, France

Stop en-route at Vimy Ridge
5pm:
Check in to lakeside chalet
7pm:
Evening meal
Day Two

Breakfast at chalet
9am-1pm:
Visit sites of interest across the Somme and WW1 Museum
1pm:
Lunch stop
2.30 – 5.30pm:
Guided tour through Alfred’s personal journey
6pm:
Evening meal at restaurant in Albert
8.30pm:
Return to chalet
Day Three
7am:
Breakfast at chalet
8.30am:
Check out of chalet
9am:
Visit Lochnagar Crater and Thiepval
11am:
Travel to Lille
12pm:
Lunch and free time in Lille
2.30pm:
Travel to Calais

Return to England via Eurotunnel
4.45pm:
Depart Folkestone for home
TRANSPORTATION
We offer transportation throughout the tour either in our executive 8-seater Mercedes-Benz Vito or a minibus for larger groups, so you can sit back and enjoy the company of your fellow tour guests.
Eurotunnel tickets and any journeys on public transport are included.

We source unique accommodation for each tour, often steering away from hotels to find quirkier places for exclusive use by your group.
